Travel Hockey Program

The Jr. Pirates Travel Hockey Program is a Tier II program offering Travel Hockey and Developmental Hockey opportunities for players in NC's Greater East area and welcomes all players wanting to player The Pirate Way, Arrrggghhh!

Ages

Co-Ed Teams for offered at the 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U levels, in additional to Developmental House Leagues for all ages and Learn To Play Hockey programs to develop future Jr. Pirates!

When

May - Tryouts for the upcoming season

Summer months - team preparations, bonding activities, camp and individual skill development opportunities

September - pre-season training, get-togethers, team bonding

October - early March - regular season play

Where

Home Games and Practices are held at The Carolina IceZone in Greenville, NC

Away Games and Tournaments travel to NC, SC, VA, PA, and may travel to other eastern or southern states. Travel locations vary from team to team and season to season.

Practices

Most travel teams practice 2 times per week during the regular season. This varies from team to team.

Games

Teams will play 20-40 games over the course of the season and games will usually fall on the weekends.

Jerseys

An Equipment Package Fee will be required of each player and will include 2 game jerseys, game socks, a practice jersey and may include an additional item such as a team sweatshirt or team jacket.

*Beginning in the 2027-28 season, all Jr. Pirates will be required to wear a black helmet, black hockey pants or shell, and black hockey gloves*

Extra Costs

Families committing to travel hockey should expect to have several overnight weekends with hotel stays throughout the season. *Teams may attend "stay to play" tournaments and all players are required to stay 2 nights in the assigned hotel to be eligible to play in those tournaments.

2026 Travel Season

Tryouts in May and regular season runs October, 2026 through early March, 2027
